Vista Real Estate Market
The city of Vista, California lies north of the City of San Diego only seven miles from the Pacific coastline. Vista's location offers the best of worlds. Its climate is temperate benefitting from the nearness of the Pacific Ocean but not pestered with the congestion that communities suffer along the coast. In fact, Vista has a lot of open space in the north part of the community mostly dedicated to parks. Vista is a great place to live. It was voted seventh best place to raise a family in Kathleen Shaputis' book, 50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family (2006) Edition, making Vista real estate a great investment. State Route 78 which forms the main east-west corridor through the heart of Vista gives easy access to shopping and restaurants form anywhere in the city. Vista has its own North County Complex which houses the courts, law libraries and Sheriff Substation.
Vista Entertainment and Attractions
Vista has it own Moonlight Amphitheatre which is an open air theater with lawn chair seating. The theatre features popular musicals in evening performances during the summer months. It is that perfect place for a "dinner and a show", picnic style. Parks and Recreation of Vista operates a small but well-attended water park that features a little kids area, lots of slides and good picnic areas for the whole family. The park is open from mid-spring to fall. Vista is also home to the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum. The museum is open air occupying 55 acres of displays of steam engines from 1849 to 1949. It is staffed by volunteers. Thousands of visitors find this museum to be fascinating because of the working engine models, soap and rope, and broom makers and wood shops.
Communities and Schools in Vista, CA
Vista has a large Japanese-American population which was established in the 1800s. The Japanese-American Cultural Center is anchored by the Buddhist Temple which is one of only two in all of San Diego County. Schools in Vista are in the Vista Unified School district, one of the best in the State. The district has eighteen elementary schools, six middle schools and six high schools. The two largest high schools, Vista High School and Rancho Buena Vista High school have excellent scholastic and athletics programs. Vista High School Marching Band often places well in statewide marching band competitions.
